We're talking about our medical health care system.

Now navigating the health care landscape through that system can often feel like you're walking through a maze. And not only through a maze, but you've got a blindfold on.

There's this sense they give you of needing to follow the path that they've laid out for you with absolutely no questions asked.

I have a thought.

What if you took off that blindfold, got out of the maze and chose to chart your own course... and that course could lead to better health outcomes?

As individuals, we really need to decide to become our own health advocates. We need to challenge the authority of a one size fits all medical system, and demanding a partnership... rather than a dictatorship while in their care.

Now it's very important that you're your own health advocate. And at its core, advocating for your health means taking an active role in decisions that affect your individual well being.

Questioning, researching, and understanding your options.

It involves pushing back against the culture of compliance... I love that, culture of compliance... to find a care strategy that truly aligns with your body's needs, your values and your goals.

This is crucial in a healthcare environment where time constraints and standardized protocols often overshadow individual care.

Now, this is not about confrontation.

It's about collaboration.

And if you equip yourself with the right tools and mindset. Let's talk about that...

First, knowledge is power. Start by educating yourself about your condition.

Lots of places you can check. Reputable medical journals, patient advocacy groups, and even medical podcasts. Those can all offer in depth insights.

Two, prepare for your appointments. Going into medical appointments with a list of questions, symptoms, and concerns will help steer the conversation in a direction that addresses your Individual holistic health.

Three, be persistent. If an answer doesn't satisfy your concerns or you feel unheard, don't be afraid to ask again. Don't be afraid to seek a second opinion or even to request further tests.

Communication is the key.... that's number four. Practice clear, assertive communication. Express your desires, concerns, and the direction you want your health care to take in a way that actually invites collaboration.

Let me tell you Lena's empowering story. Lena, who after years of chronic pain and very small improvements, decided to challenge the passive role she'd been playing in her health care journey. She researched her symptoms , prepared questions, and sought out practitioners open to partnership.

Takes a little work sometimes.

Lina not only discovered the root cause of her pain, but she also discovered a treatment plan that acknowledged her body's capacity for healing.

Her journey from passive patient to empowered advocate is an encouragement for anyone feeling lost within the healthcare system.

Imposing a uniform approach to health disregards the beautiful tapestry of our human bodies, our needs, and our beliefs.

Transitioning from that passive health care recipient to an active participant... it could seem daunting, but it's a profound act of self care that can alter the course of your health journey.

If your current health care provider feels more like a monologue than a dialogue, consider it a sign. A sign to look further, to seek out practitioners who appreciate the value of a partnership, who actually see you as an integral part of the decision making process. And who also recognize the unique wisdom and insight you bring to your health care journey.

Let's redefine our health and wellness.

Let's advocate for a system that cherishes individuality, promotes that collaboration, and recognizes the pivotal role you play in your health. Make sure they acknowledge that your body is wise and it knows how to heal itself.

Your voice matters.

Your concerns are valid.

Your health is worth advocating for.

In the vast healthcare system designed for compliance, why don't you be the advocate that insists on personalized, compassionate care?

After all, you are the expert of your own body.

Move well. Stay healthy. Be happy.
