I didn't learn to meditate until I was in a high traffic construction zone!

Hey, here's a suggestion. You wanna learn how to meditate and be mindful... how to just go inside, find a really noisy spot.
I honestly didn't learn to meditate until I went to the downtown Y M C A in San Diego, right on Broadway. And we were right by a stoplight, so there was always big trucks coming and hitting their brakes.
And errr errrr you know, right outside our window, it was a 6:00 AM class also, sometimes about 6, 6 30, there was construction going on. You'd be in class and there's jack hammers going, and it's very noisy. I mean, this was a very old building, not very well insulated.
So what I learned in that though was that at first you're a little annoyed. But then after a while, you learn how to, how to take all that stuff, all that noise, all that garbage, all that clutter, and ignore it and go inside.
And once you learn how to do that, you can meditate anywhere. And when it's quiet, it actually becomes even easier. It becomes so much easier to go inside. To quiet your mind.
You're not gonna empty your mind. I'm sorry. Maybe some instructors will tell you, you can empty your mind and maybe some yogi guru somewhere can, I don't know. I've never been able to. There's always little thoughts... so when I meditate, I always meditate on my breath, but I'm always bringing my thoughts back to my breath because every so often, you know, something's gonna pop in about that morning's class of the next morning's class, and I just recognize it. I bring myself right back to the moment and I begin following my breath again.
Mindfulness. Quieting your mind is one of the best things you can do for stress reduction.
Stress reduction helps remove anxiety, depression. It's a crazy how effective it is. So if you've never tried to meditate, give it a try. Give it a try.
One little tip I give when you breathe in, you take a little pause at the top and then breathe out and take a pause at the bottom. Now, when you take those pauses, start your mindfulness with just emptying your mind right there. You take a deep breath in, empty your mind, and exhale. If you do that, you're gonna kind of get an idea of what it's like to quiet the mind.
And once you've got that, you can start expanding that. Maybe do it for two seconds, three seconds, five seconds, 20 seconds.
So that's today's tip. Find mindfulness, and maybe one of the best ways to do is find something really noisy spot, and then just breathe and see if you can't tune it out.
With that move well, stay healthy, be happy. Live every single day with passion. Oh God, that is so wonderful when you get passionate about life. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
