Sometimes when I sit down to write or record or even mow the yard or prepare dinner I can find myself really wanting to avoid whatever it is I have to do.

The inklings of procrastination can set in, even though I might have a tight deadline or a must "to do" list... even if part of me wants to do the task.

Luckily, I've learned a really helpful practice to turn to in moments like this, that has made a big difference for me... and I thought it might help you too.

I simply ask myself, what can I do to make this activity a little more pleasant?

How could I give myself a few moments of happiness to get me started?

Sometimes it's just the right cup of tea or coffee or a healthy snack while I sit down at the computer, other times, it means moving to a favorite chair or sitting outside. It might mean putting on music or listening to a podcast while I'm doing chores around the house.

These tiny tweaks to my routine can change everything.

While I still occasionally fret starting a certain task, asking these simple questions and then making the resulting changes to my routine can make all the difference.

This shift happens because of a simple acknowledgement that I need to bring my own happiness to the equation.

So today I invite you to open yourself up to wondering what might happen if I made a little more room for my own happiness?

What can I do to feel a little better and a tad closer to my happy place while I do these tasks?

If you want, choose one task that you want to do right now that you may be dreading a little or you're tempted to put off.

Your challenge today is to brainstorm how to make that task more appealing.

Choose to feed your own happiness today in simple ways.

As a result, you'll notice it becomes a little easier to do what you need to do.

Give it a try and I hope this practice is as transformative for you as it was for me.

Move well, stay healthy, be happy!
